When Does One Stop Chasing Happiness And Start Enjoying It?

I am now traveling through Southeast Asia and am currently in Chiang Mai, Thailand, at the Deejai Backpackers Hostel, a party hostel. We recently traveled an hour out of town to visit the Inthanon Elephant Sanctuary where there are four rescue elephants, living a beautiful life after grueling slavery in the Thai logging industry and the tourist circus trade. Our group leader, who works as a volunteer at the Sanctuary is an American named Brecken. He wonders:

“Where does one stop chasing Happiness and start enjoying it?”

“Oh, My Linda Layli! Never have We been in such a blither as We are here in this crazy, crazy hostel! Never have We wanted to explore them as much as We want to explore these youth! You are the secret to these drunkards and these wonderful, beautiful, literally fantastical people whom you are meeting here in Thailand. We are so excited that We cannot see straight! Everything about Earth is colliding right here in Thailand!Animal Sanctuaries include those for drunken people, too!”

“Craziness is nothing but Sorrow and Sorrow is the source of all Evil! So, Happiness is simply when one goes in the other direction; away from Sorrow and whatever produces it and into the Realm of Positiveness! Even if it is still dealing with that which has caused Sorrow in the heart only a moment before. Strength is the determination of one’s own life’s direction. Even if it must be done incrementally and more slowly than you would like, that is the way to keep yourself in permanent Happiness.”

“I mean it! You have unlocked a very simple solution to everyone’s heart’s desires. Life is not all about pleasure. But, it IS about Happiness! And that is not always found where one might expect. It is the Heart that knows Happiness, and that is the secret to My connection with these little, tiny bits of My Own Consciousness clothed in their own human body.”

About Linda J. Brown

Linda is a solo around the world traveler, having slowly explored the world's two hemispheres. A third trip around the equator has just begun, planned to last at least four years. After living for a year in the spiritual and beautiful town of Santa Fe, New Mexico, she has transferred to the beautiful and spiritual town of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Feeling honored that the mysterious Hurricane Patricia paid her a call during her first week; she is none-the-less, eternally-grateful that this "worst hurricane in human history" decided to leave the planet alone, after all.
