A Human Encounter With The Devil?

The following is a journal entry that I wrote in a London Hostel after a conversation with my friend, Gregory, whose experience with a very frightening negative creature led him to change his life completely.

Oh my Holy Spirit! Gregory and I have just been talking about his own spiritual Revelation when he had a personal experience which changed his entire life from one involved with drugs and alcohol, to one devoted to spirituality and higher pursuits. We are sharing a dorm room now and during a conversation, he mentioned The Devil. I chimed in to say that “there is no devil, or a negative equivalent to God, The Creator.” Oh yes, he has seen it and he told of being with his drug dealer  and getting into a confrontation with him. Suddenly, Gregory fell down, feeling an aggressive, invisible force pushing against his body. He then saw an ogre face, with burning eyes and a terrible grin in place of the man’s human face. In spite of the threatening force, he commanded the dealer to “Get out! Go away!” and was successful. Ever since then, he believes that The Devil exists and that there’s a powerful lower realm connected, or combined, with Earth. Just before this frightening incident, Gregory had been stopped in the street by an East Indian man, who declared that he, Gregory, was a High Spiritual Being, after telling him things, like his father’s name, which a stranger wouldn’t know.

For years, I’ve been convinced that there is no powerful evil consortium on the same level as there is a powerful creative consortium; that there’s no contest, or battle, between Good and Evil, representing any sort of an equal contest.  Who are these “Scarfaces with burning eyes” that Gregory has seen? Oh my Holy Spirit, can You sort this out for us?

“Yes I  can, Linda Layli! It is very good that you have met Gregory because you are so pure and innocent that you do not notice those who might be around you, preying on others; but, mysteriously, leaving you alone. You do know things about all sorts of strangers but you, mostly, are looking for attractive energies and not even thinking of the neutral or negative Beings with any interest, whatsoever. This protects you against their world, which is like a musty basement, full of deadly mildew and possibly poisonous spiders, scorpions or snakes. The air there is unhealthy and neglected and there is no sunshine. It’s a Kingdom caused by neglect of humans residing upon any planet’s surface. It becomes a museum of the worst characteristics of the nature of the planet’s occupants.”

And, naturally, those subterranean haunts will collapse upon themselves because they are not maintained. Light and sunshine are essential to purity and growth. Neither plants, nor humans, can survive or thrive in utter darkness.

“Naturally, faces give away their true meaning whenever there is confrontation. Gregory  saw an absolutely-terrified, wild creature, reacting to something that shocked it. Therefore, he had a glimpse of the horrible characteristics of this sub-human with whom he’d been dealing. He can’t know what that drug dealer saw in his own face, as he confronted it. Such moments deliver stark reality, without the veils. Gregory’s face, even at rest, reveals a great light, shining from his eyes and surrounding his whole head and body. That man of darkness saw Gregory’s Inner Self and was compelled to disappear in the face of it. Gregory sent him packing with the Command to “GO!’ Does he not think it strange? That a Monster would melt so quickly?

In effect, Gregory took the measure of this subhuman and found it helpless in his presence. This wasn’t an equal contest and Gregory was just getting started. If necessary, he could have dug deeper in his natural rejection But, of course, he came away chiefly with the memory of the fiery power hidden in the heart of a human whom he thought he knew.

Gregory witnessed a dimension often portrayed in literature and scripture, but seldom epitomized so graphically among those with whom one deals daily on Earth. But, how about those Legions of Angels and Archangels one also encounters in the Highest Circumstances and in literary histories; but not down on Earth, in the common herd? It can happen in a flash! In a silent turning point!  And a split-second later, all appears normal again!”

Oh ho! Gregory is developing his music and his foreign language skills. Maybe some Heavenly Harmonies can slip through these cracks?

“Oh My God! Let’s see if We can get something going here!”
