What Are The Mechanics of Falling Asleep?

These quiet days I am determined to finish typing my backlog of handwritten journals before travel disrupts the quiet privacy. Even here in the hostel, so many other things intrude upon my time, that I neglect this job and the material stacks up because I’m such a prolific writer. Today, I’m working on material written in Mexico and found this little gem about a very common and frequently-difficult theme…..Sleep!

December 17, 2015 –  When I lay down at 10 p.m., I was acutely aware of the mechanics involved in falling asleep. With nothing else for my brain to do, the magic occurred and  I pondered the dynamics involved in this Gateway to Sleep, deliberately trying to focus on a memory or vision. When a certain person came up as a candidate, I heard a cautionary Voice warn me away from that choice.

But, oh my Holy Spirit! I don’t think we’ve ever discussed the Mechanics of Falling Asleep before. Mostly, it consists of getting comfortable and relaxing my mind and then, losing awareness; only to learn upon awakening, that I had been asleep. The steps haven’t involved much sequenced thought, guiding me into the right portal to the Dream Realm. My takeoff occurs away from the sensation or knowledge of BED.  Let’s put this on the table, candidly, in small chunks.

  1. Is there a standard pattern that we all go through to obtain sleep?

“Y.E.S! This is scientific and it is necessary to go through, for all humans and energy-bearing units, such as animals and insects.”

Birds?

“N.O! They have different sleeping methods, since they don’t have the luxury of lying down; though they are seen to be sleeping in a nest. They must cling to branches and sometimes sleep  during long flights. But, in general, all energy units must take certain steps to fall into this resting pattern called Sleep.”

  1. What is that standard pattern?

“Ever since the world began, We have had to separate this Inner Brain material from the Outer Brain material. And, We are not talking about the Physical/Material substance here, only the consciousness that resides on the inside of a “Creator of its own destiny” in this World Below. That consciousness comes to a Higher Realm for refreshing and regeneration. This is when your dreams occur, and for the spiritualized ones, it is where We communicate with you.

We are eternally grateful to you for sharing your experiences in this regard in the pages of these journals, because this is a vital part of a human existence that is usually just passed off as necessary for renewing the body’s energy supply and a standard practice for good health.

Indeed, that is it, for a person who has not developed an Inner Connection with Anyone Up Here on the Higher Planes of Existence. It is the Soul which operates in these regions, and if that is  unawakened, then the night will pass with random dreaming and a certain form of physical rest, with very little memory in waking experience.

Your dreams are so good but they only represent a small portion of what goes on with you during the night time.”

Well, I had never put much stock into what subject I might be pondering, upon lying down. I don’t watch TV in the evening, so don’t have any recent visuals to float about in, and after hours of journal-typing yesterday, I had too many topics to even sort out. Plus, I’d recently seen tips about achieving Out-of-Body Journeys by focusing on three objects from a past place or memory to initiate the astral travel; and that may be where this idea began.

How does that Out-of-Body-Experience-Practice relate to the more-innocent one of sleep? Do we “go” wherever we point our attention?

“I think you need to sleep a little bit now and let’s see where it goes from there!”

Thus ends the journal entry, so I assume that I fell right asleep!

About Linda J. Brown

Linda is a solo around the world traveler, having slowly explored the world's two hemispheres. A third trip around the equator has just begun, planned to last at least four years. After living for a year in the spiritual and beautiful town of Santa Fe, New Mexico, she has transferred to the beautiful and spiritual town of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
