Luke, who asked the previous question about Love, asked another on behalf of his friend, who wants to know why bad things happen to good people. Oh my Holy Spirit! Everyone knows this cliche and it’s natural to wonder about this when we either experience trouble or witness it. Will You comment on the fact that Bad Things, or Reward and Punishment, don’t always follow the actions of the person receiving them. How about this in Your Opinion?
“We have to say something first. I knew you were going to ask this question because Luke asked it yesterday and it had never occurred to Me, either, to examine that casual philosophy in depth. It seems to be obvious that it’s not Justice which is in operation here. It is simply the exigencies of life in a physical realm. And that pretty much answers it right there.”
Yes, I think that’s how all of us have approached the irony of that statement. But when we consider the underpinnings of most religious philosophies, there is the strong belief in earning our way into Heaven and “getting what we deserve” if we wind up in Hell. You get what you pay for in a behavioral sense. Even child-training draws upon this implication. But then, when life smacks you on the side of the head, even if you’ve been a Saint, there’s a temptation to wonder about the true mechanics in operation on a physical plane.
Are we, down here in the Soup of a material life, simultaneously dealing with 1) Energy Magnetism, in which positivity attracts more positivity; and 2) Mechanical Realities in which a random germ can bestow Cholera or a brick can fall upon anyone’s head? Or a dastardly crook can win the lottery?
For starters, let me ask How much weight does “deserving” carry?
“None at all! Deserving is so subjective, and frequently very, very surface; not dealing with the whole scope of time and place. After all is said and done, events are occurring on a very long time spectrum. This is why We can’t really judge people until their story has run its course…. And, who is to say when that might be?”
Do we all write out own movie scripts before we enter another lifetime? Might we have planned a surprising challenge to befall us?
“Yes, that is everyone’s potential, whether they have taken advantage of pre-birth planning or not. None of this is at all obvious when they are in life.
Let me ask this then. We might set up an obstacle course….a physical or medical challenge; money or family difficulties, etc, to test our coping skills. But, do we also have the option to pre-plan the Blessings, like health, wealth and winning games of chance?
“No, you do not have that option! Only tests! And, life itself in a material plane of existence is a very difficult assignment for anyone. We wonder how you can handle it Down There In The Soup. What do you think makes every difference in the world?”
Attitude! A positive attitude about whatever comes down the pike, while energetically working within your situation to come out on top. So many people eventually credit their Bad Luck for jump-starting them into a beautiful outcome, impossible to have achieved without some shock to their system.
After all, where would Christianity be today without the Crucifixion? And, isn’t DEATH considered by humans to be the worst thing that could ever happen to us, personally? An unfortunate medical diagnosis, a death sentence, a falling brick or a speeding auto ….. are all universally-feared and avoided whenever possible. So, we fight off the only inevitable truth facing all of us. When, it’s really only our Graduation Day! Ironically, death is usually interpreted as the worst of all possible Bad Things that could ever happen to us, personally.
Once we die and realize that we have happily survived that highly-feared event, and simply transferred to a new Level or Dimension, then, we might rearrange our interpretation. Ironically, we might well have originally asked “Why do such good things as Death happen to bad people?”
